Sustainability at the Groz-Beckert Group

Sustainability does not result from individual measures or promises. It arises from consistently addressing the impacts of our own actions, systematically identifying environmental and social risks as well as opportunities, and being willing to continuously develop and improve.

To systematically embed sustainability across the entire Group, we have developed a sustainability roadmap. It provides a uniform framework for all our business units. At the same time, it links key sustainability issues to clear responsibilities and concrete measures.

On this page, we provide transparency regarding which sustainability issues are relevant to the Groz-Beckert Group, how we address them, and how our sustainability activities are evolving step by step.

Our material sustainability topics

Sustainability encompasses many different aspects. Not all of them are equally relevant to every company. That is why we systematically address the environmental, social, and corporate issues that are of particular importance to Groz-Beckert.

The basis for this is the assessment of our material sustainability topics. It helps us better understand impacts, risks, and opportunities, set priorities, and initiate measures where they are particularly relevant for the environment, our company, our employees, and other stakeholders. The identified topics form the focus of our sustainability activities and the foundation for their continuous development.

Climate change

Climate change is one of our company’s key sustainability issues. Our double materiality analysis shows that both the impacts of our business activities on the climate and the consequences of climate change for our company are highly relevant. The focus here is on climate protection, climate adaptation, and energy. The collection and analysis of relevant data creates transparency and forms the basis for developing concrete measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use energy efficiently, and strengthen our resilience to climate-related changes.

Pollution

Our double materiality analysis shows that responsibly managing potential environmental impacts—particularly those related to air, water, and substances of concern—plays an important role at many of our sites.

Here, too, it is important to ensure transparency regarding our actual and potential impacts, risks, and opportunities in order to continuously minimize our environmental impact and support the long-term conservation of natural resources.

Circular Economy

Materials are an important foundation of our products and processes. Therefore, we examine where and how resources are used, what types of waste are generated, and which opportunities exist to reduce, reuse, or recycle selected materials. In doing so, we establish a basis for identifying specific areas for action and developing them step by step.

Own workforce

The people at Groz-Beckert contribute to the company’s success with their knowledge, experience, and commitment. That is why our own workforce is one of our company’s key sustainability issues. The results of our double materiality analysis show that the topics of working conditions, equal treatment, and equal opportunity, as well as the protection of labor-related rights, are of particular importance.

Workers in the value chain

As an internationally active company, we also consider the impacts along our value chain. As part of our double materiality analysis, the topics of working conditions, equal opportunity, and labor-related rights of workers at our direct suppliers were identified as particularly material. Risk analyses and defined processes help us identify and appropriately address human rights and environmental risks in the direct supply chain. Our Human Rights Policy Statement and our Supplier Code of Conduct provide a binding framework for addressing human rights and environmental due diligence obligations.

Business conduct

Responsible corporate governance forms the foundation for sustainable and long-term business success. Our double materiality analysis shows that corporate culture, integrity, compliance, and the protection of whistleblowers are of particular significance to our company. Our Code of Conduct defines the fundamental requirements for lawful, ethical, and responsible conduct and serves as a binding framework for employees worldwide.

Sustainability-related issues require clear responsibilities and robust processes. That is why various functions across the Group work together to systematically advance goals, measures, and reporting.

Our Sustainability Roadmap

Sustainability cannot be achieved through individual initiatives or short-term measures. It requires a long-term and structured approach.

Our Sustainability Roadmap therefore brings together the issues we address across the Group. It provides guidance, promotes collaboration across business units, and supports the continuous development of our Sustainability Management.

The following three commitments are derived from the material sustainability issues we have identified and define the strategic direction of our Sustainability Management. We are currently working continuously to further refine the specific milestones and measures for monitoring progress.

Our commitments:

1. Reduce CO₂ emissions

2. Take responsibility for our own workforce and the people in our direct supply chain

3. Embed sustainability in structures, processes, and decisions
