Closure of the Deerlijk production site decided: Groz-Beckert will discontinue operations by the end of 2026
Deerlijk, Belgium / Albstadt, Germany: Following the completion of the formal information and consultation process, Groz-Beckert has decided to close its Groz-Beckert Carding Belgium (GBCB) production site in Deerlijk, Belgium, by the end of 2026. The social partners have agreed to initiate the next steps required to implement the closure in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
Groz-Beckert Carding Belgium (GBCB) is a subsidiary of the Groz-Beckert Group and manufactures metallic card clothing for the Nonwovens Division. Based in Deerlijk, the company employs 58 people and has been part of the Groz-Beckert Group since 2015.
The decision is the result of a comprehensive review of the site's long-term prospects. Over an extended period, the economic framework conditions have developed in such a way that a sustainable long-term operation of the production site in Belgium is no longer possible. These challenges are not attributable to isolated or temporary effects but result from structural cost disadvantages, increasing competition from suppliers with lower cost structures, and sustained pricing pressure.
Even after thorough consultation of the competent employee representative bodies, no sufficient alternative could be found to sustainably overcome these structural challenges within GBCB.
Production in Deerlijk will therefore be phased out by the end of 2026. Going forward, the products concerned will be manufactured at various locations within Groz-Beckert's global production network. Groz-Beckert will manage the further process responsibly and support the affected employees in accordance with the applicable legal and social framework.
