Deerlijk, Belgium / Albstadt, Germany: Groz-Beckert, headquartered in Albstadt, Germany, has formulated the intention to close the production subsidiary Groz-Beckert Carding Belgium in Deerlijk. This intention is based on the site’s loss-making production structure, which raises concerns regarding its sustainability in both the short and longer term. The challenges are not driven by isolated or temporary effects, but are based on structural cost disadvantages, increasing pressure from competitors with lower cost bases, and growing price pressure. Future growth and demand are expected primarily in Asia, with a strong focus on China. This requires better alignment of our production footprint with sales and customer structure.

For this reason, Groz-Beckert has initiated a formal information and consultation process with the employee representatives of Groz-Beckert Carding Belgium. The aim of this process is to give employee representatives the opportunity to receive detailed information, ask questions, present their views and propose alternatives to the intended closure, which Groz-Beckert will carefully examine and answer. The company will engage in a constructive exchange with the employee representatives to discuss all the potential options.

The outcome of the information and consultation process is still open. Any decision on whether to close the site or not will only be made after the information and consultation process has been duly completed. Groz-Beckert will communicate further once this process has been completed.
